Welcome to PingTV! We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and share your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices for the PingTV mobile application and website.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name: Used to identify you on the platform and personalize your experience
- Email Address: For account creation, login, notifications, and account recovery
- Profile Information: Profile photo, bio, and other information you choose to add
- Authentication Data: Password (encrypted) or third-party authentication tokens (Google Sign-In)
Content You Create
- Videos: Video content you upload or live stream
- Photos: Profile pictures, thumbnails, and images you share
- Audio: Audio in videos, live streams, and voice messages
- Text Content: Comments, captions, messages, and other written content
- Interactions: Likes, views, shares, and engagement with content
Location Information
- Approximate Location: Based on IP address for content recommendations and analytics
- Precise Location: Only with your permission for location-based features (see Echo Feature below)
Echo Feature - Location-Based Networking
The Echo feature is an optional, opt-in location-based networking feature that allows users to connect with others nearby or revisit locations where they've been. Here's how location data works with Echo:
- Completely Optional: The Echo feature is entirely opt-in. You choose whether to enable it
- Background Location: If you enable background location, your location is collected periodically while the app is not in use. This is optional and can be disabled at any time
- Manual Location: If you prefer not to use background location, you can manually trigger your location when you want to use the Echo feature
- 24-Hour Retention: Location data collected for the Echo feature is automatically deleted after 24 hours
- Privacy Controls: You can disable Echo and delete your location history at any time in Settings
Device and Usage Information
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, viewing history
- Performance Data: Crash logs, error reports, and performance metrics
- Network Information: IP address, connection type
Payment Information
- Transaction Data: Purchase history for gifts, subscriptions, or premium features
- Payment Details: Processed securely through Stripe (we never store your full payment card information)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve our services: Enable core features like video streaming, live broadcasting, and social interactions
- Personalize your experience: Recommend content based on your interests and viewing history
- Enable communication: Allow you to interact with other users through comments, messages, and gifts
- Enable location features: Power the Echo feature for users who opt in to location-based networking
- Process payments: Handle transactions for creator support, gifts, and premium features
- Ensure safety and security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms
- Send notifications: Alert you about new content, comments, and platform updates (you can control these in settings)
- Analytics and improvement: Understand how users interact with PingTV to improve features and performance
- Legal compliance: Comply with legal obligations and respond to legal requests
3. How We Share Your Information
Public Content
Content you post publicly (videos, comments, profile information) is visible to other PingTV users and may be shared outside the platform.
Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate PingTV:
- Google Firebase: Backend infrastructure, authentication, and data storage
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Video streaming and storage
- Stripe: Payment processing
- Google Cloud: Video storage and processing
- Analytics providers: To understand app usage and improve features
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PingTV, our users, or others.
Business Transfers
If PingTV is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Update
You can access and update your account information at any time through the app settings.
Delete Your Account
You can delete your account at any time:
When you delete your account, your personal information and private content will be removed. Public content may remain visible if it has been shared or embedded elsewhere.
Control Your Data
- Location: Control location access in your device settings and disable Echo in app settings
- Background Location: Disable background location while keeping manual Echo functionality
- Notifications: Manage notification preferences in app settings
- Content Visibility: Control who can see your content when posting
- Data Download: Request a copy of your data by contacting support
Marketing Communications
You can opt out of promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by adjusting your notification preferences in settings.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure authentication and password encryption
- Regular security audits and updates
- Access controls and monitoring
- Automatic deletion of Echo location data after 24 hours
However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and keep your account credentials confidential.
6. Children's Privacy
PingTV is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we discover that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it.

7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account:
- Personal information is deleted within 30 days
- Backup copies are removed within 90 days
- Echo location data is automatically deleted after 24 hours (regardless of account status)
- Some information may be retained longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes
8. International Data Transfers
PingTV operates globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
9. Third-Party Links
PingTV may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the new policy in the app
- Sending an email notification
- Displaying a prominent notice in the app
Continued use of PingTV after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Your Privacy Rights by Region
California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have specific rights including the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. PingTV does not sell personal information.
European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing of your personal data.
